How do we use AI?
At Foreign Policy, we rely on the skill and expertise of our journalists and contributors, with their work rigorously reviewed and fact-checked by our editors. FP’s standards and values—including accuracy, clarity, and integrity—are at the core of everything we do.
Like other publications, we’re considering ways in which artificial intelligence tools can assist us to perform various tasks and offer additional experiences, such as generating audio narrations of articles. We also use AI tools to transcribe interviews, which we then correct and edit. AI tools are used at Foreign Policy only with human review. Humans have done and always will do our reporting, writing, analysis, and editing, drawing on decades of professional experience.
As AI systems evolve, we’ll continue to monitor not only new tools but also what kinds of features our subscribers find valuable.
As a reader, you can expect transparency from us. If AI is primarily used in building editorial features on our website, we will signpost it clearly and describe how it is being utilized. And as always, if you have feedback about FP, please get in touch. We want to hear from our readers, and we’re glad you’re here.
