Former U.S. President Barack Obama famously predicted that the United States and India would form the 21st century’s “defining partnership.” But now, the relationship between the world’s two biggest democracies is at its lowest point in decades after the Trump administration proposed a total of 50 percent tariffs on Indian products. The downturn in U.S.-India ties comes amid a spate of high-level diplomacy between New Delhi, Moscow, and Beijing.
